Craps

>> Craps objective

The aim of Craps is to correctly predict the outcome of on a roll of two dices, and wager on a corresponding bet on the table.

>> How to play Craps

Don't let the multitude of confusing names of the bets in Craps put you off. This is a far more simple game to learn than it looks.

Although there are a dozen types of bets on the table, only two types of bets are worth playing (the rest have too high a house edge). These are the Pass line and Don't pass line bets.

Craps is a game of rounds. The first roll in a round is called the 'come out roll'. Sometimes the outcome of a round will be determined on the come out roll if a 2, 3, 7, 11, or 12 is rolled the round immediately ends. If any other total is rolled (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10) that number is called the point. The dealer will mark an area of the table to designate what the point is. If a point is rolled the dice will be rolled continuously until the same point is rolled again or a 7.

blackjack>> Pass line bets

There's two ways of winning with a 'pass line bet'

  1. Roll out a 7 or 11 in the first round (come out roll)
  2. If you rolled a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 in the first round you must roll that number again before a 7

There's also two ways of losing a 'pass line bet'

  1. Roll out a 2, 3 or 12 on the come out roll
  2. Roll a 7 after the point is established

>> Don't pass line bets

A 'Don't Pass Line Bet' is essentially the opposite of a 'Pass Line Bet' except a roll on 12 (on the come out roll) is counted as a tie.

There's two ways of winning with a 'Don't pass line bet'

  1. Roll out a 2 or 3 on the come out roll
  2. Roll a 7 after the point is established

There's also two ways of losing a 'pass line bet'

  1. Roll out a 7 or 11 on the come out roll
  2. Roll a the point number after the point is established

>> Get luckier at Craps

The reason we stick with the pass line & don't pass line bet is because they carry the lowest house edge and therefore are luckier. Well, once the point is established some Craps tables will let you make 'supplementary bets' (also known as 'odds bet') which payout at true odds (which dilutes the house edge of your current bet).

In the case of pass line bets - a supplementary bet is a bet that you will roll the same number as the point established before a 7 is rolled. Whereas in the case of a don't pass line bet a supplementary bet is a bet you will roll a 7 before the point number is rolled again. Below is a table of the payouts:

Supplementary Bet To: Point established Payout
Pass Line 4 or 10 1 to 2
5 or 9 2 to 3
6 or 8 5 to 6
Don't Pass Line 4 or 10 2 to 1
5 or 9 3 to 2
6 or 8 6 to 5

Basically make as many supplementary bets as you are allowed to, most casinos will allow 2x supplementary bets, others will allow more.
